Senior Software Engineer Review

EngineeringFull-timeHybrid
Aug 15, 2025

What I liked

Smart, collaborative team; working on large-scale, visible features for Xbox. Compensation and stock are competitive, and the company supports training and conferences. Flexible hours and good parental benefits.

Areas for improvement

There can be heavy focus around launch windows which leads to crunch at times. Some internal tooling is slow and there is occasional red tape for smaller experiments.

Jun 4, 2025

What I liked

Great brand recognition and resources; cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering is strong. Lots of opportunities to lead campaigns and learn from smart peers. Manager is supportive of career growth.

Areas for improvement

Decision-making can be slow and there are a lot of meetings. Promotion timelines feel a bit opaque and sometimes there is duplication of work across teams.

QA Contractor Review

Quality AssuranceContractOn-site
Apr 2, 2025

What I liked

Small QA team was supportive and hands-on; good exposure to console test frameworks and automation. Learned a lot about release processes and cross-team coordination.

Areas for improvement

As a contractor, benefits and pay were not on par with full-time staff. Long hours during certification cycles and sometimes unclear expectations from product owners. Contractor-to-hire conversion felt inconsistent.
